I believe that crossfit is an amazing program and it has it’s place in a workout regimen. But I will give my opinion which a lot of people disagree with, which is ok but I don’t think crossfit is a long term solution.
Crossfit for those of you who do not know what it is, is a workout program that is primarily Olympic lift based and your goal is to mostly challenge your body through an agressive training style.
Benefits of Crossfit
There are several benefits to crossfit and the style that they promote. I like that they promote Olympic style lifts that are different and challenging. I also like that it is a body weight and free weight based program.
Crossfit can help you to reach new heights in your fitness journey and is good to implement for short periods of time throughout the year.
I love the tribe that crossfit has built. That is very attractive to me. Crossfit has built such a loyal following that it is almost cult like. I love that they have made big time events and work very hard to bring people together.
Cons of Crossfit
There are some cons to crossfit in my opinion with one of them being that I do not think it is the best program for people who are beginners. The reason why I say that is because the lifts that are chosen are more advanced lifts that if your form is not correct, can be very dangerous.
There tends to be a lot of injuries when people join crossfit who are not experienced weight lifters. If you are not experienced and try to do heavy compound lifts like crossfit has you do, there is no doubt that you will get injured.
When thinking about joining crossfit and their program I would highly recommend that you start with a more beginning program before you join so that you give yourself the best chance to get the most benefit without getting injured.
